1956-06-13 Lake Ontario, Youngstown, New York; Aircraft crashed in lake, for unknown reasons. Both occupants were rescued without injuries.

2 OHIO FLYERS UNHURT IN CRASH

YOUNGSTOWN, N. Y. (AP) - Two Ohio men were rescued last night when their light plane crashed in Lake Ontario about seven miles from here.
Rescued by an Air Force crash boat were E. H. Turner, of (738 Kings Way) Alliance, and R. A. Miller of North Benton. Neither was injured.
An Air Force crew rushed to the crash scene in a 63-foot rescue boat after a dredge stationed off shore reported seeing distress signals.
The single engine Republic Sea Bee plane was still afloat when the crew from the 34th Air Rescue Squadron reached it.
Sgt. Raymond Zornow, in command of the crash boat, said both men had removed their shoes and heavy outer garments in the event the plane sank before aid arrived.
The rescued men were taken to the Coast Guard base here and were examined by the post surgeon at nearby Ft. Niagara.
The men said they were en route to Buffalo from Toronto at the time of the crash.
