| I
just stumbled upon your website. My dad was the first owner of #11 Teal,
N2011T. He bought it new in 1973 as it had sat at Victor Aviation in
Sanford since new. My dad owned it until 1975 (or 1976) & he sold it
to an airline captain who landed it in the water with the gear down shortly
after he bought it. The last time I saw the plane was when it was being
repaired in Norwood (MA). Is there a way we can get in touch with the
current owner through you? I see that someone in Tennesee owns it now. We
would very much be interested in what the aircraft condition is today. Thanks for your time! Mark O'Malia Walpole, MA (E-mail February 6, 2005) |

#11 sat at Sanford airport in Maine from when it was built to the summer
of 1973 when my dad bought it. At the time, it had very short hours on it,
although I forget how many...maybe less than 75???? The story behind
it at the time, from David Thurston, was that it was originally purchased
by Apple Corporation, which was The Beatles record company. After the
Beatles broke up, the aircraft was held up in court until things were
settled between John, Paul, George, & Ringo. I have no idea what their
use would have been???? This is when my dad became interested in the
plane & eventually bought it. I think at the time he paid about
$12,000.00 for it. I still have a short note from Mr. Thurston, dated
1973, stating "#11 Teal was originally purchased by the Beatles
for use in the Bahamas". My dad sold the plane in 1976. I
stumbled upon your website a few months ago & was able to track down
the current owner in Tennessee. He & I have recently traded some
pictures...my parents 30+ year old pictures & his current
pictures. My dad's name is Charles O'Malia & at the time of purchase, we
lived in Boston, Massachusetts.
While I do not have pictures of the plane on my computer at this time, I have a nice framed picture of my dad flying #11 hanging at my summer home in New Hampshire. I will take a digital picture of it this weekend for you when I am there & email it to you next week. In the meantime, I see that you are also looking for a picture of #4 Teal. Here is a 35 year old factory promo picture of #4 Teal, which came with the paperwork when my dad bought #11. Regards |
